About US

Why We Started This Autism Blog

Our early experiences navigating autism were often confusing and stressful. We noticed that many people, especially families and caregivers, struggle to find information that is:

  • Easy to understand
  • Respectful of autistic voices
  • Helpful in real life

We created this blog to share what we’ve learned along the way, combining lived experience with credible research where appropriate. Our intention is not to provide answers for everyone, but to offer perspectives, patterns, and tools that may help others feel more grounded as they make their own decisions.

This blog may help you if you are:

  • A parent or caregiver of an autistic child
  • An autistic adult looking for clear guidance
  • A teacher or supporter seeking practical tips

Who This Blog Is For

Our content is intended for:

  • Autistic children, teens, and adults
  • Parents and caregivers
  • Anyone interested in autism understanding, acceptance, and inclusion

We aim to support people across the lifespan, from early childhood through adulthood, while recognizing that not every post will apply to every reader.

Our Values and Approach

Everything we share is guided by these principles:

  • Respect first as autistic voices and lived experiences matter
  • Grounded information provided by both research and real-world experience
  • Practical focus on ideas and frameworks that can be applied thoughtfully
  • Empathy and care – no fear-based language, no judgment

We work to clearly separate personal experience from research and to present information as context, not instruction.

Who We Are and Who We Are Not

Brains of Many Colors is written by parents raising an autistic child while managing a large family. We also feature contributions from guest bloggers. Our content is grounded in lived experience, ongoing learning, and reflection over time. As new information emerges, we strive to review and update our posts to keep them accurate and relevant.

We are not medical professionals, therapists, or diagnosticians. We do not endorse cures, miracle solutions, or any harmful therapies. Any discussion of strategies or support is shared as personal experience or general information—not as medical advice.

We encourage readers to explore multiple perspectives and consult qualified professionals when making decisions about medical care, therapy, or education.
